The Klang Riverfront

Immerse in River of Life Kuala Lumpur

The Klang Riverfront is an exceptional natural asset within Kuala Lumpur has remained largely untapped despite its prominence. Possessing all the necessary elements, the Klang River has the potential to become an iconic riverfront, seamlessly woven into the daily lives of the people. By revitalizing this riverfront, Kuala Lumpur can join the ranks of the world's leading cities with dynamic and pristine waterfronts. Recognizing this opportunity, the River of Life Entry Point Project was established as part of the Greater Kuala Lumpur / Klang Valley National Key Economic Area under the Economic Transformation Programme.

Flowing through the region's most densely populated area, the Klang River had suffered from pollution and increased flooding due to rapid development. In order to restore the connection between the city, the river, and its people, the River of Life project was launched in 2011. With a budget of RM 4.4 billion, the project encompasses a vast area of 781 hectares, including 63 hectares of water bodies. The aim of the River of Life initiative is to reintegrate the community with the river, facilitating a complete transformation into a vibrant waterfront and generating significant economic and commercial value for the surrounding urban fabric.

Over time, the River of Life underwent a stunning metamorphosis. Its banks were meticulously landscaped, adorned with lush greenery, vibrant flowers, and artistic sculptures that told tales of the city's rich history. Walkways and promenades were constructed, inviting residents and visitors to stroll along its shores and immerse themselves in its soothing ambiance. The river became a place of solace and reflection for the city's inhabitants. Its tranquil waters provided respite from the fast-paced urban life, offering a serene sanctuary where one could find peace and reconnect with nature. Families gathered for picnics, couples strolled hand in hand, and children laughed and played along its banks, creating memories that would last a lifetime.

The River of Life breathed new energy into the city, attracting tourists from far and wide who were captivated by its allure.
